The APP That Gives You A Daily Vacation For Your Mind.
When it comes to meditation, there's this huge misconception that one must clear their mind and somehow stop all thoughts.
That’s just humanly impossible, it’s like trying to program your heart to stop pumping.
According to the research of Dr. Fred Luskin of Stanford University, a human being has approximately 60,000 thoughts per day—and 90% of these are repetitive!
Our brains are moving, like a constant hamster wheel. While spinning, the muscles collect thoughts that are just thoughts and feelings that are just simply feelings.
Like any muscle, the brain needs to be trained. Meditation is a daily exercise for one to become masters of one's own mind rather than being mastered by it.
Practicing meditation trains ourselves to express gratitude, improve concentration, decrease stress and emotional reactivity to external events.
With the help of Simple Habit, the mindfulness app has made it convenient for me to develop meditation into a daily ritual.
The priceless benefits allow me to reconnect with myself and my senses. Rather than getting lost in the noise and commotion, I am able to start my day clear.
Designed by a Harvard alumni and an SF mobile development team, the CEO and founder Yunha Kim made it accessible for users to experience meditation for various occasions, from enhancing creativity to improving a better night sleep.
“We currently have 60+ highly trained mindfulness instructors that we’ve vetted from top training programs like Search Inside Yourself or the iRest Institute," said Yunha
HERE ARE 3 WAYS HOW SIMPLE HABIT ADDS SIMPLICITY TO MY LIFE
1. BEING PRESENT IN MY CREATIVE ZONE:
I’ll go to my office, turn on my laptop, and put some soft music in the background. Then minutes went by and I found myself getting anxious. I began to scroll through my phone, doing everything but performing the task at hand.
The ultimate goal is to achieve “flow”, which means being 100% engaged in your present task. According to CEO of Simple Habit, Yunha Kim describes it as “you’re completely immersed in your zone and effortlessly performing at your best."
2. NOT TAKING EXTERNAL EVENTS PERSONALLY
The "Finding Happiness" meditation focuses on discovering optimism in your environment as a whole. This meditation challenged me to finds ways to detached my emotions from external events and view the situation for what it is. Period. Point. Blank.
3. SPEAKING YOUR “IDEAL DAY” INTO EXISTENCE
Meditation guides us to live our “ideal day”, with the first step being visualization. Imagine how you want to think and feel. Being as detailed as possible before starting the day is key. By closing my eyes and visually setting my intentions, keeps me moving through the day.
When you visualize your "ideal day" and see it unfolding, the Reticular Activating System (RA) in your brain helps you notice patterns.
So as I navigate through my day and I come across a hiccup. No worries, because I will not let small moments veer me away from my ideal day. I will seek the options around me.
I can't list all the benefits in this article. However, I do challenge you to try it for yourself! Download Simple Habit in the app store. Oh, don't forget to add me as mindfulness buddy.
